Join Samantha Wilkie, our very own Yoga Therapist in these safe, supportive and non judgmental space to start exploring deep levels of healing through self love and acceptance, therapeutic movement, body awareness, breath and meditation practices.

Yoga Therapy focuses on an individual as a whole and looks at health and wellness at all levels of the person: physical, psychological, and spiritual and working with all aspects of oneself is essential to healing. These carefully designed sessions provide a safe space for individuals to explore their own bodies through gentle, therapeutic and exploratory movement, guided meditation and focused breathing techniques. These classes are your opportunity to practice self care and recognize the importance of patience along ones healing journey, honour where you are in every moment and become reacquainted with your body. Working with a Yoga Therapist is helpful as they understand how to create safe space which allows clients to work with the practices of yoga with the knowledge that they are not alone when difficult emotions or states arise. It also provides them with the ability to build experience working with difficult states and continue to work to lessen their effect on the system. Over time as with all practices, the individual shifts and becomes empowered to change themselves. 

These Yoga Therapy programs can help support a wide range of dis-ease in the body from trauma, anxiety and depression to long lasting injuries and chronic pain and everything in between. 

 

We offer both group drop in and registered classes along with private sessions. Check our schedule to find when the group classes are being offered.

 


How are these classes different:

Sam has an incredible gift for holding space for people to find deep connection to ones self, resulting in massive transformation and healing. She will invite you to go deep into the depth and the layers of yourself to find places of discomfort, all while making you feel safe and loved throughout the process. You will be met exactly where you are physically, mentally and emotionally in every class without judgment or expectation. Sam has extensive training in trauma and understand the affects on the body systems. She uses her knowledge and awareness to help students travel beneath the physical level where chronic pain has manifested. Sam loves to provide her students with hands on healing through therapeutic touch and reiki energy during the classes. She has been told her "hands are magic" and believes this to be a very important part of the experience.

 

What to expect:

Group drop in classes:

Each week will have a new theme and intention for our bodies, minds and spirits to find healing. We will use plenty of props and there will be tons of modifications provided to ensure all students are getting the most of these classes. Group yoga therapy classes are beneficial in so many ways. You are able to get the individual attention required but still maintaining a deep connection with other students traveling along a similar healing path. These classes are for absolutely anyone and everyone. No previous yoga experience required.

 

Registered group series:

Before entering into these registered classes you will meet one on one with Sam to create an individualized program based on your intentions. Each week the classes will begin together in gratitude and guided meditation. From there each student will flow into their personal therapy program with the individual support of Sam, tweaking and making adjustments to your program when needed. It is important that the students are trying to continue working on their therapy program outside of the studio time for the best results. The class will than come back together as a group to end in a relaxing savasana with guided meditation and hands on healing.

Each week will have a specific focus for both the physical body and the emotional body

Week 1 and 7
Release- upper back, neck and shoulders

Week 2 and 8
Surrender- hips and pelvis

Week 3 and 9
Grounding- legs and feet

Week 4 and 10
Love- chest and upper back (heart)

Week 5 and 11
Relax- back health

Week 6 and 12
Acceptance- side body
